Child Center of NY

The Child Center of NY began in 1953 as a children's counseling center. Today, they are a powerful community presence, reaching 18,000 children and their families each year in neighborhoods throughout Queens, Brooklyn and Manhattan. Their mission is to help at-risk children and youth succeed in life. Their evidence-based, innovative programs guide children from birth to adulthood and connect them to warm, caring people who can help them build on their assets. They work with whole families to help children engage with school, work through trauma, and become secure, capable and confident.

During a STEM activity at The Child Center's after-school program at PS 273, youth leader Estephan Centeno helps a group of five- and six-year-olds make a "cloud in a bottle".
